Shots Fired At Second Faegre Daniels Attorney

It has all the makings of a John Grisham novel. Last month, a gunman confronted a corporate attorney for Faegre Daniels Fort Wayne office in his garage and shot him twice after spraying a substance in his eyes. David Kuker survived his gunshot injuries. Yesterday, a colleague of Kuker who lives a mile away awoke to gunfire at his home. Jeffrey Goeglein, who also practice corporate law at the firm, discovered holes in a rear window of his home and saw a man riding away on a bicycle. Fort Wayne police believe the two shootings are connected. Neighbors of Geoglein were reluctant to talk to reporters following the shooting according to the Journal-Gazette:
Multiple residents living near Goeglein preferred not to comment Tuesday to The Journal Gazette.
One man who lives in Kuker’s neighborhood said he is relieved knowing that police believe Tuesday’s event is connected to the law firm, because he has nothing to do with Faegre Baker Daniels.
“It’s still a little unsettling that that kind of thing is happening in the neighborhood,” the man said, declining to give his name. “I’ve noticed things that I may not have noticed before – a car parked in front of the house – that kind of stuff. I’m more aware, but it’s not something that dominates my thinking.”
The law firm tells the newspaper that the firm is stepping up security measures:
“After two incidents, we are extremely concerned with these developments and the safety and security of our professionals and staff,” Managing Partner Andrew Humphrey said in a written statement. “We are implementing further security measures to provide added protection to our people.”
The statement did not say what type of security measures the firm would implement, and the firm declined to comment further.
